De Jong reveals why he didn’t take the number 14 shirt at Barcelona

New Barcelona signing and emerging star Frenkie De Jong has explained why he turned down the number 14 shirt at Barcelona, De Jong is eager to avoid comparisons with Dutch and Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff.

Cruyff, who is one of the most iconic players in Barcelona history, used to wear the number 14, but De Jong does not want comparisons to the Camp Nou legend.

90 Minute state that after that, after already rejecting Nike’s request to wear the name ‘Frenkie’ on his shirt, De Jong declined the opportunity to wear 14, even though he was honoured that ​Barcelona looked to compare him to Cruyff.

Number 21 is currently worn by midfielder Carles Alena, but the Spaniard will now be assigned a different number to accommodate De Jong’s wishes

Raptors trying to cope after departure of Leonard

Raptors President Masai Ujiri says there is no need for fans to be concerned after the departure of NBA finals MVP Kawhi Leonard .

Ujiri spoke with the media for the first time since Tuesday when it was reported that Leonard is leaving for the Los Angeles Clippers.

“This is the NBA and this is how it works…You can’t hide underneath the table and cry. Honestly, I’ve lost no sleep, I’m not disappointed. It’s on to the next”

“I’m telling Raptors fans and everybody: Don’t lose one day of sleep, one second of sleep. We’re gonna be just fine.”

“He definitely has our blessings. He gave it everything while he was with us and we really appreciated that,” said Ujiri. “I communicated with him afterward and it was very good. We got a great deal out of this, we won a championship so we’re happy. Honestly it’s on to the next.”

Leonard who has a very light social media presence and he remained quiet during the transfer talks and gossip. Although , he did appear to have given Leonard value and maybe only Leonard as part of ”the process”

Barcelona Looking to wrap Griezmann move in the next 72 hours

According to Barca Blaugranes, Barcelona are ready to wrap up Antoine Griezmann in the next 3 days. On first of July Griezmann’s release clause dropped to Euro 120m just because of this Barca could pounce on him

The move could come late this week before the weekend arrives. The transfer itself will be interesting due to how Barcelona will get to the €120m . Barcelona are apparently “looking at every available option”.
